New Restrictions Placed on State Contract Renewals

The Governor signed off on SB 375 (Kotowski/Walker) on August 23 to effectively eliminate all automatic state contract renewals or extensions on contracts valued at more than $249,999.  P.A. 96-1478 will instead require all proposed contract renewals or extensions over that dollar threshold to be justified before the Procurement Policy Board (PPB).

Sept. 23 will mark the six-month anniversary of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), a law that plays a very prominent role in employer coverage decisions both now and in the future.

The Illinois Chamber’s No. 1 concern is ensuring PPACA operates in the best interest of the employer community here in Illinois. We are advocating against state-specific implementation policies that layer on additional mandates and costs.
